While the uptake of passenger EVs has seen decent growth in Western Europe, with a CAGR of 26%, public charging infrastructure development remains slow. The following infographic gives an overview of the major EV charging markets in Western Europe i.e., Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland and the UK as well as their growth in the future.
More than 50% of the public charging network in Europe is concentrated in Western Europe. This is largely due to EV charging friendly policies, incentives, and grants in the region. According to PTR, at the end of 2021, Western Europe had a total public charging network of 83,133 charge points.
